Praia Grande is one of our favorite beaches near Sintra! Named after its status as the largest beach along the Serra da Sintra coastline, it features an expansive 900m stretch of sandy shoreline. This captivating beach is renowned as a popular surfing spot, drawing enthusiasts with its favorable swells. Scott has surfed there several times already and looking forward to more soon!

The southern end of the beach has massive cliffs, providing a natural barrier against prevailing winds and making it an ideal choice for a serene beach day. Praia das Maçãs

Just a short drive from Sintra, you’ll find Praia das Maçãs, or Apple Beach. This is another one of our favorite beaches to visit near Sintra! Accessible by public transport, including a direct bus service, it’s a good place to visit during the high season. The winding road leading to the beach is a scenic journey, and once you get there, you’ll be greeted by a large outdoor swimming pool and a big golden sand beach. Praia das Maçãs is a popular spot for families, with a range of activities and nearby restaurants.
