If you are like me you love eating out. Not only does it mean I don’t have to cook but I get to try new flavors and cuisines that I can’t seem to replicate in my kitchen.

Most times we go out to eat we bring the kids along. Babysitters are expensive for three kids and to be honest we love having them with us.

The struggle is finding a place that makes both us and the kids happy. If it were up to them it would be fast food chicken nuggets all day long. I don’t mind nuggets but I want something a little more sophisticated with fresh flavors and a cool vibe.

I know what you are thinking, you can’t possibly get all of that and have it be “kid friendly”. Well we recently visited Bartaco in Hyde Park Village and let me tell you we had the best time.

Here is my criteria when I’m eating out with my kids:

1. Noisy but not too noisy

2. Healthy options for my kids that they actually want to eat

3. Delicious food and drinks for the adults

Bartaco had it all.

The decor made me feel like I was on vacation and it’s noisy enough that I didn’t worry when the baby shrieked for more guac.

The kids plate was phenomenal! I was so jealous when I saw this plate full of fruit, tacos, quesadillas, and some delicious sides. We ordered the large which was perfect for my three girls

Ok now onto the adults. There are not enough words in the English language to describe how much I loved the food. The tacos (pork belly and tuna are my favorite), the corn off the cobb, the ceviche and I can’t forget my amazing mojito. My husband and I were silent as we devoured everything, barely making time to take a breath in between bites.

One of my favorites of the night was the #bartacosecret taco. For a limited time they are offering a lobster taco. You won’t find it on the menu so be sure to ask your server for that secret taco. Poached lobster, topped with warm hominy, and drizzled with brown butter. I think I need one right now!

So if you are out and about with the kids and trying to figure out what you want for dinner you NEED to try Bartaco. You might see me there. Bartaco is now my new go-to.
