What is the first sweet treat that comes to your mind when I say Easter? Yup that’s right.. PEEPS! They’re ooey, gooey and delicious. They’re such an iconic Easter snack, and almost everyone loves to eat them. I have found a fun way to turn these delectable Easter treats into an edible craft for your kids. That’s right, an edible craft. I have a delicious recipe that only uses 3 ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes. So follow along as I teach you how to make edible peeps playdough.

Ingredients for peeps playdough
This recipe is so simple and requires only 3 ingredients. 2 of which you may already have in your house. And let’s be real here.. If it’s Easter time, you might already have peeps in your house too.
- 1 package of 5 Peeps. That’s the obvious ingredient. You can use any color peeps, they even come in different animal shapes.
- 3 tablespoons Powdered sugar. You may need more if your playdough feels too sticky. Use your best judgment.
- ½ of a tablespoon of coconut oil. Or Crisco is a good alternative to coconut oil since they are both a similar texture.
Extras to add in to your Peeps playdough
This can be a tricky thing to do. You want to make sure that what you are adding in is edible, so that leaves sparkles out. You also want to make sure that while your kids are playing with it, it doesn’t melt, so that makes chocolate chips and candy out as well.
- Sprinkles. I feel like sprinkles are the best addition to anything holiday. They come in fun festive colors and shapes. And let’s face it, they are delicious.
- Edible glitter. I know what you’re thinking.. WHAT? But yes this is a real thing. Edible glitter would make this bright peep playdough even funner.
What happens if you don’t have peeps
Not everyone has loads of peeps on hand around Easter time. If you don’t have the time or money to get peeps, no worries! This recipe can also be made with plain marshmallows.
If you’re looking for a fun Easter color, you can also add in food coloring when you are mixing and kneading. No need for a special trip to the grocery store to buy them. Just work with what you have.
Here are some of my favorite Easter items:

How to store your playdough
If in the off chance your kid hasn’t eaten this fun yummy playdough while playing with, it let’s talk about how to store this to play with it later. You are going to want to put your playdough in an airtight container or bag. It will be good for up to a week. You may need to warm this pack up and knead it for a few minutes when you are ready to play with it again.
