Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is one of my favorite Disney World Celebrations! Every year, this event takes place from August all the way until Halloween night. If you are considering attending the event, or this is your first time going, then you may be wondering if this party is really worth the cost. If you’ve never been, here is a first timers guide to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!
You need to buy tickets
This is a hard ticket event which means that even if you were in the Magic Kingdom on the day of the party, you will still need to purchase a ticket to attend the event. As the party date gets closer to Halloween, the tickets will get more expensive. You can purchase your tickets online for your specific party date, or get a season pass if you’re going to attend multiple! Disney Vacation Club Members and Annual Passholders will get a discount on the event, so if you are either of those members, make sure you include that! Tickets for adults about $70-$100 and kids under 9 are $65-$80. Keep in mind that if your kids are above 9, they will need to purchase an adult ticket. Kids under 3 are free!

Make sure to make FastPasses if you plan on riding rides
During the party, you won’t be able to make FastPass reservations so be sure to make them before you attend! To be honest during the party you wont need them. I thnk the longest line we waited in (seven dwarfs) was 25 minutes.
The party starts at 7 pm, but sometimes you can get in around 4 pm. If you plan on riding rides, you want to book between 4-7 pm. This will allow you to be able to ride up to three rides with a FastPass before the main party event starts! YOu can thank me later for this little hack.
It is still hot, even in October
If you are attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, you are probably planning your costume. Whether you are dressing in costume, or you are going to be attending in regular clothes, expect the weather to still be warm and humid. It rarely drops below 70 degrees, so keep that in mind when choosing a costume for your kids. Try to avoid the big puffy costumes you were up north and opt for something that can tolerate the Florida heat.

There are so many fun things to do for the kids!
All of the guests are given a trick or treat bag when they enter the park, and the kids will be able to go to designated treat stations around the park for candy! If your child has an allergy, let a cast member know! They will give you a teal token which you can redeem at an allergy-friendly treat station later on. In addition to the treats, there will also be a bunch of character meet-and-greet opportunities! While the lines will be long, you will be able to meet characters such as Jack and Sally Skellington which are hard to find during the rest of the year.
Eat Dinner Before
With all the fun at Mickey’s Not So Scary the time can pass very quickly. That is why I would suggest eating dinner before the event. That way you can focus on trick or treating and the shows instead of sitting down for dinner and missing precious party time. Didn’t have a chance to eat? Then grab quick service versus a sit down dinner. Don’t fill up too much because the treats were extra special at this event. This wouldnt be a first timers guide to mickey’s not so scary halloween party without my reviews on the delicious treats. Be sure to read my full post on the best food at Mickey’s Not So Scary.
Try the Special Overlays
As a Annual Passholder I’ve seen it all so I was shocked to find that there are a few rides that have some changes during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Mad Hatters Tea Party, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean all had some fun changes that made it pretty special. I don’t want to give any any spoilers so I will just say you have to check them out! Space Mountain had me treally scared

After attending for the first time, there were so many things I wished I’d known before going! Hopefully, this post will leave you better prepared so you know exactly how to get the best bang for your buck. I hope you enjoyed the first timers guide to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year. I will definitely be visiting again
