My pony obsessed baby girl came to me a few weeks ago and said “mama, I want a my little pony birthday party”. Ooookkkkk?!?! This was all news to me and with her birthday just two weeks away I was not one bit prepared. As the third baby she usually gets the short end of the stick when it comes to birthday parties so I was determined to make this one extra special.

I wanted to make this party as special as can be but I was also on a tight budget. With the travels we had coming up I didn’t have a whole lot to spend but I knew I had to get creative to make this seem like I went over the top.

One of the biggest saves was the cake. If you follow me on Instagram you know that I worked my tail off to get this cake done for her. It was one of the most stressful things ever when I had to create the “drip”. I had worked for hours to get to this point and one little mistake with the dripping could ruin the whole thing.

When setting up a party on a budget I like to spend my time focusing on one or two things that make the biggest impact. For me the biggest is the cake table. I decided that the combo of the rainbow balloon arch and pony cake would make this party seem so special to Hazel. The balloon rainbow was actually so easy to make, we just used balloons and taped them to the wall

We hung the two garlands to our old dresser to give it that special unicorn touch without being too cheesy.

The second area I focused on was the activity table. I used a plastic tablecloth and streamers to make the runner. I decorated with glass jars I owned and filled them with candy.

I purchased some my little pony makeup for “Makeovers with Rarity”

We used ice cream cones, icing, and sprinkles to decorate “unicorn horns”

I got the plates, napkins, confetti and rainbow balloon from the cutest shop Ellie and Piper Party Boutique. This shop has unique items which really elevate a party. I love how the site is easy to manage by theme and I was able to find all the unicorn themed items to make this the cutest cake table ever.

The favors were balloon sticks with coloring packs attached. Very inexpensive and super easy to put together. I really don’t love favors but these were a hit with all the kids.

One of my dearest friends made this adorable shirt for Hazel. She has the best shop and if you have a great idea she can bring it to life for you. You can shop Hazel’s shirt HERE.

Hazel’s favorite part of the party had to be the giant Pinkie Pie. She loved her and hugged her and it was totally worth the price.

This my little pony birthday party was so easy (and inexpensive). It was probably one of the most stress-free parties we had to date.

Do you like to throw themed parties for your kids? What has been your favorite theme? I would love to hear about them in the comments below.
