As a family of five, there are so many things to consider when choosing hotel rooms because so many properties either limit occupancy or force you into booking multiple rooms. But this room setup worked perfectly for us.
Our room had two queen beds plus a daybed, so everyone had plenty of space without feeling cramped. That alone made such a huge difference for our trip.
We also decided to splurge a little and book a swim-up room, and surprisingly, it still felt incredibly affordable. Even with the upgrade, the room was only around $100 per night.
For a spacious, beachfront, family-friendly resort in Phuket, that felt like an incredible value.
But what really made the stay worth it for us were all the extras included.
The Breakfast Buffet Saved Us a Lot of Money

But at Arinara Beach Resort Phuket, we had access to a huge breakfast buffet every single morning. There were tons of options, which made it easy to feed picky eaters and keep everyone happy.
Having breakfast included also meant we weren’t rushing around every morning trying to find food or paying restaurant prices for a meal we could get free at the resort.

Food ended up being one of the largest parts of our daily budget, mostly because there are five of us.
But even then, we found Phuket to be incredibly affordable compared to many other destinations.
Our meals usually ranged anywhere from $15 total for local dishes to around $40 total for more expensive restaurant meals.
And just to clarify, that was total for all five of us, not per person.
That part honestly shocked us at first.
If we ate local Thai food, prices were incredibly low. Even nicer meals were still very reasonable for a family our size.
We also bought tons of fresh fruit smoothies, which were usually around $1 each, and they quickly became one of our favorite little treats during the trip.
To save even more money, we stopped into local markets and 7-Eleven, which ended up being such an easy way to grab snacks, drinks, quick breakfasts, and inexpensive meals between activities.

Compared to what we often spend on rental cars, parking, gas, or rideshares in other destinations, this felt incredibly reasonable.
We found getting around relatively easy and inexpensive, especially when compared to places where transportation becomes a major hidden travel cost.
Entertainment and Things to Do
One of the best parts about Phuket is that you don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy it.
In total, we spent around $100 on entertainment and sightseeing.
That included:
- Taking photos at a beautiful café
- Visiting the Big Buddha
- Exploring temples around Phuket
- General sightseeing
And of course, one of the best parts of Phuket is completely free:
The beach.
We spent plenty of time enjoying the beach without paying anything extra, which helped balance out our budget and gave the kids some of their favorite memories from the trip.
Sometimes the free parts of travel end up being the best parts anyway.
