Looking for the best summer vacations for families? Then you’ve come to the right place! We love a good summer vacation! Traveling is a great way to spend quality time together, try new activities, and explore the world around you. Whether you’re looking for a beach getaway or an adventure in the mountains, below I’m highlighting some of our favorite vacations and our best tips for travel!

Things to Consider Before You Choose a Vacation Destination

There is always plenty to think about when you’re planning a vacation, especially when you’re traveling with kids!

Budget

Finding a vacation that fits almost any budget is totally possible! However, you’ll want to make sure you think about more than just the flight and accommodations. Don’t forget about transportation, meals, entertainment, tipping, and any shopping you’ll want to do.

Availability

Of course, you’ll need to confirm that the vacation destination you have in mind is available during the time frame you are hoping to travel. But try to be flexible with your exact dates to save money on flights and hotels.

Weather

Look into the expected weather for the time you are hoping to travel. This can be a hard thing to pin down, and you may end up being surprised by weather that is different from what you expected, but plan the best you can and then go with the flow.

plane

Did you know you can book flights for FREE? We flew to Paris as a family of 5 for just $18! Learn the exact step-by-step instructions of how we did it here.

Activities

Look into the activities that are available, especially for kids, in the places you are hoping to visit. This is a good opportunity to try some new things but make sure your kids also have some play time and down time since vacations can be overwhelming.

Culture

Look into the culture and get an understanding of the historical sites and popular attractions. It’s so much fun to see your kids experience a new culture and learn to appreciate the past and present of a place and its people. If you want your kids to have a learning experience, go somewhere where people and customs are different.

Accessibility

Don’t forget to consider the ease of transportation from your location to the destination. This can make a huge difference in your overall trip. Research the cost and how far transportation from the airport to the hotel, for example, will be so you can be prepared.

Accommodations

If you’re staying in a hotel, think about the amenities they have available for kids. Will you be able to have a day or evening where you relax and do fun stuff in the hotel if it rains or you’re just tired from travel? If that’s not important to you, consider what is very close by that you can get to on foot.
