Best Restaurants in the City Centre

Incomum by Luis Santos

Located in a very charming setting, Incomum offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for elevated family dining. The restaurant offers a diverse menu that showcases a range of culinary delights, so there’s something for everyone, including options suitable for children. The spacious and comfortable seating arrangements allow families to relax and enjoy their meal without feeling cramped, plus the service is impeccable.

We really enjoyed their scallops with the mushroom risotto, the sea bass, and the lobster soup! They offer a Tasting Menu created by the chef with amazing wine pairings and suggestions. Incomum also has their own Wine Gallery and cellar, where they offer some of their own private labels along with charcuterie. I had the best time on a ladies night here and enjoyed the Messias Sparkling Wine.

Restaurante Apeadeiro

Apeadeiro offers a family-friendly atmosphere that combines a relaxed ambiance with delicious cuisine. The restaurant’s diverse menu caters to various tastes, so there are options that even the pickiest eaters in the family will enjoy. Apeadeiro takes pride in using fresh and locally sourced ingredients, contributing to the overall quality of their dishes. You have to try the fish rice here, it’s what makes them famous amongst the locals!

Tascantiga: Portuguese Tapas and Wines

For a Portuguese tapas experience, Tascantiga is located upstairs above the da Fonte da Pipa. This small restaurant offers a variety of snacks rich in flavor that are perfect for sharing with family and friends. They do offer a kids’ menu, but the menu changes seasonally. The atmosphere here is very laid back and cozy, a perfect spot for lunch before or after hiking to the Quinta de Regaleira. They do not accept reservations, so be sure to get there at least 20 minutes before they open to ensure a first seating. It will get more crowded as the day goes on!

Romeria de Baco

Located very near the Sintra Myths and Legends Museum, Romeria de Baco is a must-visit for those seeking a unique dining experience. This restaurant is well-regarded for its wine list, offering a very good pairing with each dish. The ambiance is perfect for special occasions or a relaxed evening with friends, making it one of the best-reviewed establishments in Sintra. With a focus on pairing, even the younger members of the family can enjoy a delightful meal with dishes suitable to their taste. The Black Pig Secrets with Black Marcela Migas was like nothing we’ve ever tasted and just melted in our mouths!

Bacalhau na Vila Sintra

Bacalhau na Vila specializes in the iconic Portuguese dish, bacalhau (salted codfish), prepared in various delicious ways. The diverse menu ensures there’s something for every member of the family, including options for young kids. The attentive and friendly staff contributes to a pleasant dining experience for parents and children alike. We love their codfish pastry “Vila” style and “Codfish a Bras,” excellent!

Dom Pipas

Dom Pipas is a favorite among locals and tourists, and the warm and welcoming atmosphere gives it the cozy feel of a family-run restaurant. The tasting menu is a journey through Portuguese cuisine, with a unique combination of ingredients that everyone will love. Don’t miss their Bacalhau com Natas, which easily qualifies as the best Bacalhau in town. There are unique combinations of ingredients that even the little ones will love. Best Restaurants near the Coast

Moinho Dom Quixote

This is certainly our favorite brunch spot near Sintra. Inspired by the famous characters of Miguel de Cervantes: Don Quixote, Sancho Pança, Dulcinea and Rocinante, Minho Dom Quixote’s offers local, vegetarian, and home-made dishes. They have delicious salads and sandwiches, like the Crab Club and the Sandes Cabana. The kids really like the soups and we all enjoy the selection of desserts made fresh each day! There’s a full bar, artesian gelato, and some of the most amazing views of the coast!

Restaurante O Crôa

Known for its delectable Portuguese seafood, O Crôa stands out as a must-visit dining destination. Indulge in the flavorful experience of savoring mouthwatering octopus rice, succulent sea bream, and delightful prawns. Sit out o their patio and listen to the waves crash onto Praia Grande. The menu also boasts a variety of tempting desserts, a great way to end the meal with your bica (espresso), O Crôa has excellent coffee!

Aldeia means village, so this is a Beach Village offers lush landscape and breathtaking views of the pristine beaches of Sintra. The grounds of Aldeia da Praia are a collective of playgrounds, shared spaces, cafes, breweries, and other restaurants. A place for families to share in activity, dining, playtime, and music. We’ve had some amazing experiences here and we really love the food. Our family favorite has to be the homemade pizza from Ama! Pair their Margherita pizza with a glass of wine or a craft beer from MUSA, then finish off the day with a scoop from Nomads Gelados, perfect day!
