Thank you, Rainbow Light®, for sponsoring this post; all opinions are my own.
Every once in awhile I feel like I get into a “mom rut” as I like to call it. I just feel off. It’s usually because I am not prioritizing myself and need to make some big changes. Let’s be honest, if we aren’t taking care of ourselves we can’t be the best caretakers for our little ones. A few weeks ago I started to be more intentional with my mornings and I noticed a huge difference in my demeanor. I was less tired, I had more patience, and just overall felt better and happier. This wasn’t some big drastic change, I just tweaked a few things and I want to share with you the morning routine that made me a better mom with hopes you can start feeling better too!
The Morning Routine that made me a Better Mom
Make my Bed
I know this is nothing new, and you hear from everyone how important this is, but I had to include this at the top of my list. As a mom, we can be faced with some really hard days and when I start the day off by doing one productive thing, it sets the tone for the day. No matter what happens, I am able to accomplish this one simple task that makes me feel better.
Open the Blinds
One of my favorite parts of my morning routine is opening my blinds. There is something therapeutic about letting in the light and the dramatic way it makes my home feel so much more welcoming and calming. I much prefer natural light to artificial, so this step is one I never miss. It’s an instant mood booster.
Water and Vitamins
Every morning, even before I have my coffee, I like to have a giant glass of water to start my day. Room temperature water with lemon hydrates the body and helps with detoxification. I want to make sure I prioritize myself and my health so I never miss my multivitamin. In a perfect scenario, I would be able to get all my nutrients from the food I eat, but that is not always the case. Taking a daily multivitamin is a great way to help fill in the gaps and make sure your body—including your immune system—gets the support it requires. I take Rainbow Light® Women’s One™ because it provides Vitamin C and D, as well as zinc and selenium. They are also vegetarian and gluten-free. Now that I’ve been consistently taking my Rainbow Light® Women’s One™ vitamin for a few weeks I notice that my energy levels are up. I really do love these vitamins.
Coffee and Goals
This is the part of the morning where things start to get busier. As a homeschooling mom, I get pulled in a million different directions but it’s so important that I prioritize this part of my morning. I grab my coffee cup and sit for a few minutes to make my goal sheet for the day. I don’t like to call it a “to-do” list, instead, I like to write my goals with my top priorities at the top of the list. Some days it is just making sure the lessons get done and some days the list is a bit longer. Seeing it all written out helps me get a grasp on the tone of the day. I am way more productive on days I have my goal list so I make sure I do this every morning while I have my coffee.
Do something Active
I haven’t been as good at this one as the others, but in the last few weeks I have been working on making sure this is part of my morning routine. As a mom, it is so important to the success of my day. This doesn’t just apply to me, it also applies to my kids. Maybe it’s just a walk outside, or some yoga on YouTube, whatever it is I just want to get my body moving. I notice it helps me stay more active and more motivated throughout the day.
So there you have it, the morning routine that made me a better mom. It’s not complicated or hard, it’s just five simple things that you can start doing tomorrow to help you be a happier and healthier mom.
