Based on our experience, here is what you should pack for your Dominican Republic trip:
Clothing
One thing I love about going to a resort is that you really don’t need to take a lot of clothes. Here’s what I suggest taking with you:
Swimwear for the Resort
It goes without saying that the Dominican Republic is a swimmer’s paradise. Pack a bathing suit for every family member – you’ve got amazing beaches and pools to enjoy! Don’t forget your beach cover-up!
Light Clothing for the Dominican
With temperatures hovering around the 80s and 90s, lightweight and breathable clothing is key. Think shorts, tank tops, sundresses, and don’t forget those stylish sun hats. But don’t forget that tropical weather can change quickly, especially in the rainy season or hurricane season, so depending on the time of year, you might need a light rain jacket. If you want to do some excursions, you may want to bring active wear, depending on what you’re planning to do.
Resort Casual Evening Wear
While the dress codes are usually relaxed at all-inclusive resorts, it’s wise to bring a few nicer outfits for evening dinners or family outings.

Comfortable Shoes
Whether it’s flip-flops for the beach or sneakers for exploring, comfy footwear is a must. Remember to keep shoes light, cool, and breathable for the tropical climate. Keep in mind that if you plan on venturing out of the resort for excursions, you’ll probably want to have closed-toe shoes. Local markets and the beautiful beaches are a different story, you can wear your flip flops or sandals there.
Sun Protection
You’ll want to have some sort of sun protection since you’ll be spending a lot of time outside in the intense sun in the heart of the Caribbean! Even in the rainiest months in this warmer climate, you’ll still have plenty of sunshine!
Sunscreen
Pack sunscreen with a high SPF for the whole family and reapply often!
Hats and Sunglasses
Shield those peepers with stylish sunglasses and protect your face from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat.
After-Sun Care
In case of sunburn, bring aloe vera gel or soothing creams to keep everyone cool and comfortable.
Other Essential Items

Don’t forget passports, travel insurance, and any necessary vaccination records.

Waterproof Phone Case
This is important, but even more so if you use your mobile phones as travel cameras. You want to make sure you protect your phone and your memories!
