What to Pack for an All Inclusive Resort in Dominican Republic

Check out our post on 10 Reasons to visit an All-Inclusive Resort with your Family

Based on our experience, here is what you should pack for your Dominican Republic trip:

One thing I love about going to a resort is that you really don’t need to take a lot of clothes. Here’s what I suggest taking with you:

Swimwear for the Resort

It goes without saying that the Dominican Republic is a swimmer’s paradise. Pack a bathing suit for every family member – you’ve got amazing beaches and pools to enjoy! Don’t forget your beach cover-up!

Light Clothing for the Dominican

With temperatures hovering around the 80s and 90s, lightweight and breathable clothing is key. Think shorts, tank tops, sundresses, and don’t forget those stylish sun hats. But don’t forget that tropical weather can change quickly, especially in the rainy season or hurricane season, so depending on the time of year, you might need a light rain jacket. If you want to do some excursions, you may want to bring active wear, depending on what you’re planning to do.

Resort Casual Evening Wear

While the dress codes are usually relaxed at all-inclusive resorts, it’s wise to bring a few nicer outfits for evening dinners or family outings.

Comfortable Shoes

Whether it’s flip-flops for the beach or sneakers for exploring, comfy footwear is a must. Remember to keep shoes light, cool, and breathable for the tropical climate. Keep in mind that if you plan on venturing out of the resort for excursions, you’ll probably want to have closed-toe shoes. Local markets and the beautiful beaches are a different story, you can wear your flip flops or sandals there.

Sun Protection

You’ll want to have some sort of sun protection since you’ll be spending a lot of time outside in the intense sun in the heart of the Caribbean! Even in the rainiest months in this warmer climate, you’ll still have plenty of sunshine!

Pack sunscreen with a high SPF for the whole family and reapply often!

Hats and Sunglasses

Shield those peepers with stylish sunglasses and protect your face from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat.

After-Sun Care

In case of sunburn, bring aloe vera gel or soothing creams to keep everyone cool and comfortable.

Other Essential Items

Travel Documents

Don’t forget passports, travel insurance, and any necessary vaccination records.

First Aid Kit

Band-Aids, pain relievers, and any prescription medications should have a spot in your suitcase.

Travel Adapter

While voltage converters are not necessary in the Dominican Republic, socket adapters are. Don’t forget that or you won’t be able to use important items like your phone chargers.

Waterproof Phone Case

This is important, but even more so if you use your mobile phones as travel cameras. You want to make sure you protect your phone and your memories!

Tech and Entertainment

Capture those priceless family moments with a camera or smartphone. The Dominican Republic’s scenery is picture-perfect.

Entertainment for Kids

If you’re traveling with little ones, pack some toys, games, or devices to keep them entertained during downtime. However, we did find that an all inclusive resort vacation keeps everyone pretty happy and entertained pretty constantly.

Power Bank

If you will be using your devices a lot, like your phones to take photos, keep them charged with a portable battery pack.

You’ll want to make sure you don’t forget your basic toiletries and anything you need on a daily basis.

Toothbrush and Toothpaste

It’s a basic, but it’s easy to forget in the excitement of packing.

Shampoo and Conditioner

While many resorts provide these, it’s always good to have your preferred products on hand. Especially for a big family, since

Insect Repellent

Tropical destinations sometimes come with tropical bugs. Keep those pesky critters at bay with a good bug spray.

These things are great for travel to and from the resort, or if you go outside of the resort to explore.

Reusable Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is crucial, and having reusable bottles makes it easy to fill up and carry with you.

Travel Snacks

While all-inclusive resorts offer delicious dining options, having some snacks on hand is useful, especially for hungry kiddos.

Foldable Tote Bag or Beach Bag

Great for carrying souvenirs or essentials when you’re out and about.

Now that you know what to pack for an all inclusive resort in Dominican Republic, it’s time to jet off to the Dominican Republic and create lasting family memories. With these essentials in tow, you’re well-equipped for a fantastic vacation in this Caribbean paradise. So, pack up, relax, and get ready to soak up the sun!
